I agree...a 280 cam is not going to give you very good power off the line. What ratio is your rear axle? If you are running 3.07 gears or something close, that is your problem. With a 280 cam, you need something like 3.73-4.11 gears to make the most of your engine combo. The only other way to really get a big increase in low end power is to swap in a smaller cam, or build a bigger motor (383 stroker, or 400 small block)
