There is a little button assembly mounted under the dash right behind the brake pedal. Lay down on the floor and look up.
Near the button that is pressed by the pedal you can thread the assembly to adjust when the lights turn on. Adjust the assmebly so it is almost resting on the peice that activates it, but doesnt touch yet. This way your lights will come on almost right when you hit the pedal. One thing to consider is the pedal return.
If the pedal doesnt always return all the way back (or where it was when you set the button assembly) then the lights may stay on, when they shouldnt be. You may want to drive around at night after you adjust it to make sure they are coming on and off when they should be.
