Re: 6 lug to 5 lug axles?
The only 6-lug coil spring rearend housing that will accept 71-72 5-lug axles is the 1970 6-lug rearend.
They are the same width as the 71-72 rearends.
The 67-69 6-lug rearends are approx. 3/4" per side narrower.
Take a backing plate-to-backing plate measurement.
55.5" will not work.
57" will work.
