I was always told that as the odometer turns over every 100k that the alignment of the numbers is changed. A car that is actually under 100k will have a very neat row of numbers. In the photograph that shows the odometer only the 8 is in the proper position. That means the other 4 numbers (not counting the tenths) has moved from alignment. I had an old timer tell me years ago that this could be an indication that the truck has turned over 4 times.
