yesterday, a buddy and I yanked the 305 out, and got the new roller 350 in place. The hard stuff is done, all thats left now are the driven accessories, intake, distributor, one exhaust manifold, and the valve covers. I really hate to put those strangled 305 "log" manifolds back on, but I'm building on a budget! the 350 looked Very clean inside.. one challenge tho.. the hole was there for a mechanical fuel pump, but there's no eccentric on the cam..

so I guess I've gotta run an electric pump.
We did tear into the 305 too.. Needed the oil pan for the 350, and popped the driver's side head off just for curiousity.. oil pan was full of sludge.. and 4 pieces of piston skirt!! and pulling the head revealed #7 piston is missing 1/3 of it's top ring land! and #7 had good compression! not to meantion the cylinders have a huge ridge at the top of the bore.. this thing was GONE
