[1984 t type]

I am in the process of changing my interior and want to change the color of my dash ( the metal half ) and was wondering what's the best way to prep the metal and what paint should I use ? Also I plan on using spray cans as I don't have a compressor or spray gun. Thanks in advance for your help.
