Front Brake Hose Attachment

I just changed all the brake lines and hoses on my 1973 K20. I removed the old hoses a few months ago and I'm a little confused at something. My memory is fading at my old age.

On the front brake hoses, they go through the frame from the outside and a nut threads through the inside of the frame to attach them to the frame. When I removed the old ones, I could have sworn they also had a lock clip like this underneath the nut between the nut and the frame:

Am I mistaken? Does this clip only hold the rear brake line? Are the front brake lines only held on with nuts? Thanks.
