So far the only issue I've had with starter bolts was on my 83 shortbed 4x4 diesel. If I remember right, the bracket on the front of the starter worked it's way loose a little bit and one bolt broke...turns out that was the bolt hole my friend had to helicoil when he had the truck. I got lucky and was able to get the end of the bolt out without any problems.
