Remove overload springs with drop?
I guess I wasn't previously too well versed on the suspension options of these trucks. I am to the point of reassembling my (coil) rear suspension with the CPP adjustable track bar, shock relocator kit, and 3" drop coils. On top of that I had to build new mounts for the differential, and I made them about 1.5" taller to give a bit extra drop as I had the springs in before the restoration and the rear wasn't quite low enough (The CPP 3" coils sat higher than the cheapo 3" coils I took out).
So anyway, today I am working on getting everything together and notice there are significant clearance issues with the overload spring pad and the track bar mount for the passenger side trailing arm. So that got me wondering, took a look at my parts truck and it hasn't got overload springs.....I guess they were an optional part? I could clearance the pad to make it work, but I have to wonder if there is much point in keeping the overload springs in a non-hauling application? Chopping them at this point would suck seeing as the frame is painted, but I guess it really isn't a big deal either.
