someone on this board had a chart about tire size and gear ratio correlation, but i have no idea where it is now. 3.08's probably would be too high to use with 33" tires, IMO. I have 3.73's with 32" OD tires right now, and it seems to be a good medium between performace and fuel efficiency (lol).
