Hi all, have a question about the ignition switch. I have replaced the old ig sw with a new "ign sw." i put the steering column in a vise to test the spring action. The ign rod is supposed to retract or release when the key is turned on to start position. Does the power have to be on to test. The steering column is an 89 tilt. Have it my 73 gmc. When in the vise when i turn the cyl key to start, the key
