I agree with RWHIT, IF the system is empty, try to jump the low pressure swith to see if the compressor engages. If it does, I would vacuum the system, and see if it will hold vacuum for 5 minutes or so. If it does, charge the system. I have used freeze12 with good results. Might suggest, working the system for a week or two, to see what happens. Then convert to r134. R12 is hard to find and getting pricy
