Fixed-blade fans are dead reliable, but I have never liked them. They pull air all the time, which also means they are noisy and rob power. A clutch fan pulls more air at idle and low engine speeds, and releases (for the most part) when not needed.
I'd take measurements and hit up junkyards for a clutch fan from a full size late-model GM car or truck. In fact, I have done exactly that! .02
