the folks that are telling you NOT to do it have been doing this sort of stuff a long long time. some of the best advice here was given to you, free of charge, by a guy that has forgotten more about truck suspension than any of us could ever hope to know.
just because the advice given is not what you wanted to hear doesn't make it bad advice.
