If you "know its not the best idea" then why are you insistent on seeing how to do it? I have cut many a set of coil springs, so I am not "standing in line with the rest of the sheep". I have no problem offering advice with cutting coils in the proper manner.
In the case of a set of springs that are pigtailed, they can be cut but that leaves you with no practical way to mount them. You could fab a bracket for them to sit in, but that still wouldn't resolve the issue of them being to short and consequently giving a poor quality ride. If your going to take the time and effort to fab a bracket, why not spend the time to lower it correctly.
What you will find on this forum is the senior members do not openly recommend any type of suspension mod that is not safe or consider by most as the most practical way to accomplish your goal. I am going to give you some short and simple advice. "Better to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt".
