Not sayin that's the right thing to do, it just seemed like a common sense approach for me.
I have done quite a bit of suspension work over the years...so...just torque the nuts as tight as possible ( this would equate to around 90 to 100 foot pounds ) then keep torquing the nut tight till the cotter pin will slide in smooth...then fold one part of the pin over the nut and cut the excess and you are done.
