Good point. What's an inch? And...a 4" lift is what all sizing charts from lift companies recommend for 12.50/33s. I know you can get by lower,but that's what they suggest. When I said visit a spring shop I meant have your existing springs arched and a new leaf added. Around here that runs around $400. The Rough country price is what it was in the '70s w/o shocks,as I recall. Pretty amazing. But,then again,so is the technology. I'd hope taking out a leaf would soften the ride. It seems it would have to if it lowers the truck 1" by removing 3/8". That to me says the springs are softer if he weight brings it down more than what was removed. And,from what guys say who run them,that's a good thing.
On the steering arm,they are recommended at 4" so 3" should be fine w/o.
