Look at the tranny gear ratios. When I changed out my 64 PG for a TH350 first gear was the same as if I changed out the 3.08 rear end for a 3.54. Around town it seemed like the PG was always searching for the right gear. Unless you are going to spend a lot of time on the highway, get a 3 or 4 speed auto, your choice. Adapting to the 235 will be the same work for which ever your choose.
