Actually, I have heard a lot of guys (on ColoradoK5.com) that don't have the extra bracket. My understanding was that that was hit or miss on the NP205. The NP203 had some long rods that connected to the transmission for extra support. I have also seen some NP205s (not sure what truck they were in) with 2 cross members. One under the adapter and one under the rear of the t-case.
