I checked the numbers on them, they are definately original 40's. They are not installed backwards. I called flowmaster to verify the numbers on them to make sure they were 40's. He said that the 2 1/4" pipes is the reason it is so quiet. Don't get me wrong, its not silent, but it just isn't very loud at all. They are 2.5" mufflers, do you think if I switched over to 2.5" pipe it would be noticeably louder? Or maybe put some bigger exhaust tips after the muffler, but still leave it dumped before the axle?
