i had this discussion with my dad (40 years experienced technician). It came down to this i said them new motors would be nice in something you could drive alot he replied they drove them every day cross country back then to. (can't believe i said that i have all carb engines beside one)I believe in carbs especially Q-jets and properly set up they do just as good and are super easy to fix like you said fuel pump especially and what just a few wires
