If you google Torsen differentials, it will confuse you... It is basically a Torsen differential. It is a "limited slip" type diff. In Torsen racing applications, the rate of slip can be manipulated by the "pitch" of the spiral planet gears. Lots of high end vehicles use these types. BMW, and the Hummer H1 are a few.

Personally, I like them. I want one for my front diff.

When playing around off road in a Hummer H1, and you experience wheel slip, you can feather the brakes and that causes the power to transfer to the wheel with the most traction.

Some vehicles do this automatically.
