Wow that's brutal, it's sad when the powers that be loose site of the financial gains weekend events bring to a community. Ours got pretty bad with burnouts, lots of police presence now, but if you just cruise they leave you alone. The drag races are that weekend so most people head there to play. Hotels, restaurants, gas stations, parts stores, and places to shop all benefit from hundreds of people coming into the community, people make a day or weekend of it. Maybe not necessary when oil is paying all the bills.
