That is correct. There is no reason you can't run a newer wheel. Just be sure they have the 8 x 6.5" wheel bolt pattern. The F@&d Super Duty's went to a metric 8 lug bolt pattern starting in '99. All GM C/K20's and 2500's with the 8300 GVW and the single wheel C/K30,s and 3500's have the 8 x 6.5 bolt pattern.
