Re: What made you guys pick chevy trucks
That's a really good question. I owned two 67-72 Chevy trucks in the 80's, but didn't realize at that time how much better they're built than Fords of the same era - because I never owned a Ford.
So, I picked up a big, heavy boat in 2000, and bought a beat-up 72 F100 to tow it. The motor was about wore out though, so I got rid of it and bought a 73 F100 in much better shape. But... it still wasn't any good for towing. The drum brakes were no good, the trans was sloppy, and just everything about it was cheap and breaky. So... I bought a 71 Chevy, and we're talking night and day better truck. Everything is made better, it's easier to work on, the trans doesn't slip, and disc brakes to boot. I was really surprised that there was that much of a difference. You'd figure a truck is a truck, but it just ain't so.
That boat is long gone, but I'm keeping the truck until the DMV says I'm too senile to drive. The 67-72 Chevies are just outstanding trucks. Buy one, and you'll never want to get rid of it.
