So the bed is cut in two, but now I need to get out the scrap sections. Here it is after a little more cutting:

After I cut the bed floor 12" shorter with a skill saw I did a test fitting and this is how it looked:
I was happy with how it lined up, so I decided to use the scrap pieces to practice my welding. Here is what the test welds looked like
