in 1990, my dad tried to use the new 4 core from his 72 burb c10 in his newly acquired 84 c10 and it didn't fit. my 72 burb c20 has a 307, 3 on the tree and no a/c but i wanted a 4 core for towing (and for the overkill factor). i got a new 4 core from Jim Carter 2 years ago for like $200. soon afterwards they started phasing out their 67-72 line of parts (too much competition) so i'm not sure if they have any more to sell or not. mine does have the provision for trans cooling (just threaded plugs into the holes to keep crap out). i got extra lucky - my dad still had the 7 blade from his burb (w/ 350/350 and factory front a/c). when he sold the truck in 91 it had another fan on it and so that factory correct "performance piece" was collecting dust in the attic....now it's on my truck!
