Bicycle lock, coated cable is the best. If they can't lift the hood, they can't steal your battery.
I've had 'em steal carburetors, starters and radiators. I now have everything locked up in a chain link fence with barbed wire around the top.
FYI, if you have an Interstate Batteries distributor close, buy "BLEM" batteries from them. They're about $40, I've got 'em in everything I own and have never had an issue with 'em.
