As far as changing the wheel bearings go... you might as well go head and do it, as a precautionary measure, if you haven't done it in a while.

However, I had the same weird noises.. thinking it was tire noise,(sometimes odd wearing tires make special noises too)

I did change my wheel bearings, and that cured pretty much all of the noise...it's all metal you'll dealing with, and sound vibrations do have a way of resonating through everything... good luck...

I would start with bearings..
