I'm just finishing up one of those conversions. I found a junker 78 Suburban for $100. The front crossmember bolts right up. There was one hole on each side that had to be drilled though. I got the brake booster to bolt up too, but I want to redo the bracket to the firewall so it looks a little better. I had to make a new shaft from the booster to the brake pedal. I ended up taking the shaft from the booster and the shaft from the truck, figured up a length and welded them together. My truck was a 6 lug and I changed it to 5 lug. The big plus on this was the rear axle was a perfect swap. So, for my $100, I got power brakes, 5 lugs all around and still have a 78 Sub that has some good parts on it.
I still have not tried the brakes. I have them bled, but I need to get the engine back in. I'm hoping to drop it in this weekend.
Any questions or pic requests, just drop me a line here.
Mike
