Build direction for a 350 destined for a truck? Are you doing the shortblock too or trying to run as is?
Depends on how fat your wallet is. I don't build anything with a flat tappet cam anymore. Being a newer block with a 1 piece rear main it's already capable of a factory style roller cam swap (or it may have one already if the engine is from a passenger car).
I'd personally do a small roller with duration numbers in the 210-220 range and top it off with a cheap set of brand new vortec heads. I little performer intake and a carb of your choice. With a set of long tube headers it would be an easy 325-350hp engine and have a real nice flat torque curve that would move a truck around nicely.
That's my idea of a budget build if money is tight.
