I tried to put some of the 90's flat hubcap aluminum wheels on my 67 burb and the tires hit the inside well long before I could check the fit at the boltface!
In the 80's, GM started using enlarged tapers at the lugnut seats and different metric stud sizes. In the 90's they moved the axle ends outward and used wheels with more backspacing.
