A few things: First of all, a roller cam CAN make a huge difference. This motor used to have a crane 272H single pattern with .515 lift. There is a noticeable difference with the roller. The R's just shoot up. Now in all fairness to you though, I have a 3K stall, 4.20 gears and at least 1,000 lbs on you. That stall alone is like a sling shot. I wouldn't get too hung up on comparing a big heavy truck to this rig.
A big factor can be your timing. These low comp BBCs love a lot of initial timing. That motor is set at 18*. What are you set at? I do know that when this was in my 5,600 lbs 3/4 ton, it flat ripped for a truck too though.
