There are 3 different suburban tanks.
28 gallon, 32 gallon, and a 40 gallon.
The 40 gallon won't fit in a stock height or lower short bed. Not enough room behind the axle.

On cutting the frame, cut behind the very front bed mount bolt holes. That way, most of the holes should line up.
You can figure out how much off the rear by sitting the bed on. On my CCSB, the PO cut too much off the back. I would leave as much as possible.

If its going to be a 4x4 you could also move the rear axle forward 14" and cut all the difference off of the back. I think if you plan on a lowered 2wd the frame would be in the way of the axle using this method. Guess you could always notch the frame.
