Well what worked for me was this...
I did a 5.3 swap a few years ago using the 2002 power steering pump. I was able to remove the fitting from my original 68 pump and it screwed right in the new pump same threads and both use an internal o-ring. it has worked for me like this for years.
Oh, nevermind I just read your post again and see you dont have an old pump. I dont know if a parts store would have one? You might give them a call like I said my stock one seemed to work.
