Not true. If the ventures are too big airflow velocity will go down dramaticly and decrease your low end substantially and kill power till way later in the higher rpm range when airflow is greater and demand is great enough to overcome the need for higher velocity

This is the same principle as large cc intake runners on a cylinder head bolted to something like a 305
