Re: edelbrock-holley

After my original q-jet went south and I traded it in for a rebuilt at the local parts shop (huge mistake) which only lasted a few months before it took a nose dive. I ran the Edelbrock 1406 and it worked pretty good but I could never get my truck to pass smog with it.

I recently worked with a company out of Florida for a new q-jet that would be tuned for my truck, big waste of time and money. Carb was horrible.

Got lucky a few weeks ago at the local pick-a-part and found a 1978 eldarado that was just put out for parts, nice original Quad sitting on top. I pulled that sucker, went to Napa got the base gasket and put it right on my truck.

Runs like new again, I've got my fuel economy back and good power, haven't been to smog yet but i'm pretty sure she'll pass without issue.

If you can find an original q-jet I would grab it and put it away, there getting hard to find, at least around here anyway.
