OK, I just figured-up what it would take to convert to HEI, getting all parts at AutoBone.
For a reman HEI dizzy, w/module, no cap or coil - $92.00, not too bad.
But then I added up everything else I would need, cap, coil, plug wires, plugs and of course, spare module. Grand Total: $199.00.
I can get a reman points dizzy from AutoBone for $38.00 and I have all the peripherals.
For the cost difference I think I can make it run almost as nice as an HEI by setting the gap and dwell carefully and setting the vacuum by adjusting the carb mixture.
As much as I like HEI, that $150 saved would probably be better spent somewhere else on this old truck.
