We don't use the stick on clips either. We have taken several trucks apart with the stick on clips and none of them have been stuck. The new stick on clips make the chrome stand out more than the metal screw type, so even if the adhesive is better, we don't care for the look. We use used clips that we sandblast and
paint. The screw type clips are very positive and hold the lower chrome on tightly to the body. The issues that you can run into are in the door, (front clip behind the door hinge) and the rear
fender chrome on the front fender, (easiest to install with the fender off).
