Info from the Jolly website. Pete Chronis, one of the acknowledged GMC experts on that site, had this reply below. Also here are a couple of 1974 GMC 379's with the "mark"; last year of Official production for all V-6's. This is a rare engine as well. (73-74)

than "GMC" that had something to do with all GM engines being corporate
engines rather than being individual to each division. By 1973 the GMC
V6 line of engines was incorporated to Chivy's medium duty trucks which
were assembled in GMC's Pontiac Michigan Plant, nothing but GMC trucks
rebadged as Chivy's and that also was true for bigger trucks 7500-9500
series in preceding years. Also in 1972 Oldsmobile losts their logo on
it's V8's valve covers, probably the GMC 637 V8 as well in it's last
year of production.
