Right now the Duramax option is an $8,500 =/- option to begin with. It's like anything...demand sets the cost. New prices are ridiculous,so to buy a diesel after a few years is a great way to go. I would look until I found one for the right price,they're out there. It's true most think they have a gold mine. Makes you wonder why they want to sell. I went with diesel truck way before the curve,back in the '80s when most guys were saying they just don't like diesels. "I don't like the smell",they'd say. I'd say,"And you like the smell of rotten eggs?"

Anyway,now I think a gas motor is the smarter way to go,unless you absolutely need the hauling characteristics of diesel. I mean,you pay close to $9k up front,then about 50 more cents a gallon more,don't get great mileage,and service costs on the complicated electronic trucks is high. The newer gas motors have big power,get good mileage,and are lasting a long time.
