Back in the early 90’s I installed a TH350 with the transmission mounted Lokar. It came through the original 4 speed hole, but I believe I had to trim away about ¼” from the edge of the hole closest to the seat. The boot covered up the modification. FYI, my truck has the high hump with removable pan:
