What Is This and What Does It Do?
Hey guys -
My son and I replaced the factory cast iron 4 barrel intake on his '70 GMC 350 with an Edelbrock aluminum intake. The part in the photo below was attached to the intake manifold, and had an electrical connector attached to it. The small piece with the two pointed ends was stuck into a hole in the back. It looks like it has a vacuum port, but there was no vacuum hooked to it.
The PO had changed the Q-Jet to an Edelbrock 1406 (w/adapter).
Is this an anti-dieseling solenoid for the original Q-Jet carb? Or, maybe some sort of secondary vacuum advance for cruising at highway speeds?
Also, is it something we need to re-install? If so, how does it connect?
HELP!
