I see you made up your mind but here is my thinking.
I use my truck as a truck. I have a Blazer tank. When I finally get around to installing it I can't imagine putting the filler in the bed because I use the bed and may have stuff in there when I need gas.

If I had a nice looking, not used as a truck truck, I'd do the bed floor or somewhere in the inside of the bed side. The reason there is I would want the cleanest looking outside of the truck.

My opinions are worth what you just paid for them.
