I used a small flat blade screw driver to "open up" the thin black channel and just pulled the glass out, replaced with a new rubber seal that goes inside the channel, put the glass back in place and used a pair of pliers (with tape around the gripping points) to tighten everything back up. Done it 4 times that way with no issues and the glass remains tightly in place.
