I had a mechanical/linkage clutch in my 85 burb for a while. The only hole I had to drill was for the clutch rod. I vaguely remember I had to modify the pedal bracket and how it bolts to the master cylinder. IIRC I had to remove two mounting studs on the bracket...or something like that...it was pretty easy.
85 went to hydraulic clutch and the mounting point for the master cylinder rod is different than on a linkage style set up.
I didn't change my column. I drove out the pin that held on the gear selector and I just left it in park and then exteded the wires for the reverse lights down to the transmission.
