You could probably drill a hole through the knob and use a set screw to hold it in place, or a knew knob and cable are pretty cheap from Classic/LMC/ etc. Someone added a Holley 4bbl, with electric choke to mine, dumbass should have left the knob in place@#$%^&*

My plans are to mostly drive and enjoy it this summer, tinker here and there. This fall I will remove the front sheet metal for bw, and primer. Update the front suspension with springs, shocks, 2-1/2" drop spindles, disc/power brakes. At this time I will blast and paint the front frame. Plan to have it all buttoned back up for next summer, then plan the following winter's projects. I may take a run at power steering this winter too. Whatever I do my plan is to work from October to April, and drive from May to September.
