The truck looks pretty good for just a parts truck.
Judging by the air cleaner I am fairly certain it is a 1967 or 1968 327. Also judging by how the alternator mounts to the exhaust manifold (i.e. no accesory bolts holes in the head.) The canister type of oil filter was also found on the 283 and 327 motors for 1968 and earlier.
You are correct that the distributor is a points type.
If the motor isn't too tired it should be a peppy little motor. I am jealous, I have been wanting to put another 327 back into my truck.
