You measure from the mounting surface, where it bolts up to the hub (rotor), to the very back edge of the wheel.
To check width, do the same thing, but to the front side. All wheel measure about 1" wider than that they advertise it at, this is due to the bead. But in your case, this is just for a point of reference, so it will be Ok.
