Driveshafts have to be right. They have to be balanced and they need to be exactly straight. Your buddy might be a great welder but pipe sits still. Driveshafts spin at engine rpm. If you ever saw a driveshaft break at speed you wouldnt be asking this question. Driveshaft work is relatively cheap. Last one we had built was guaranteed to 1200hp and with them supplying yokes and u joints was 300 bucks made from scratch.
